On the road to Solvang 16 July

Colorado River.

Near Needles, California

A California Condor, or a Rest Area Crow....?

Gnarly Salt Cedar

At first glance, I thought this was a new model Bushtec trailer!

Pear Blossom, CA.  This large quick stop has NO public Rest Room.  The Standard Station next door has pay toilets, but they were out of order.  Another 5 or 6 miles to the next available:-(

Mission HIlls, CA.  The Valley Inn.  A convention Motel in the San Fernando Valley.  Years ago this was a very nice place.  Huge lobby, giant pool with palms, flowering trees and a lot of grass.  Still nice, but it's not very modern.  Still affordable, and a nice place to stay.
Flowering trees at the motel

The pool and grounds are a little above average for us "one night stay" travelers

Skid enjoying some California fresh air
2 of the several dessert selections at the Bear Pit BBQ

About 4 blocks from the Motel we walked to this place.http://bearpitbbq.com/

The mechanical stuff looks like it should be on the South side of the Border!

The floor was covered with sawdust, but there wasn't any peanuts to toss into it

Not busy when we arrived, but by the time we left it was packed.

Didn't eat ANY of the nice sour dough bread.  Gave Skid half the beans.  Ate everything else.

Umm, Yum, Nom.....Lip smackin' good!
