Rawlins, WY. Settled into the First Choice Motel. After a Burrito dinner, we decided to ride through the little town of 9000 people. There were several churches, this is one of the prettiest. |
It's an old Cow Town, and more recently an Oil Town. A Main Street community, there is no mall, all the store are still doing business in the old town |
A cross roads. North to Casper, South to Larame. West to Rock Springs and East to Cheyenne. |
Lots of huge old trees line the shady streets |
Like the Wild West, we passed about a dozen bars and taverns, all open and apparently doing business |
The Ferris Mansion is now a Bed and Breakfast. Lanny thinks Mr. Ferris invented some kind of wheel. |
Once a beautiful home. |
Another "Johnny Cash" Built Cadilac |
The other side of the tracks |
Also a rail town |
Another view from the bridge over the tracks |
I-80 off there at the base of those hills |
We did pass several churches. This one is on Main Street |
Main Street is full of stores, but there is an area of about 4 blocks with side streets in between that is full of working stores |
Nice Mural |
The old Rail Road station was turned into a city park |
Many a pair of cowboy boots have passed through this door! |
This would be my choice of a Breakfast stop. But....we'll probably have a bowl of cereal at the motel.... |
Rawlins, WY! All Aboard! The Union Pacific Station |
Very interesting old town |
The blue front was a downtown Bakery |
Another store turned into a church |
And a gas station turned into a tavern |
Cute little Mexican Restaurant |
A Bakery across from our motel |
