Mission Hills to Solvang 7/17

Nice breakfast came with the room but we didn't eat much.  Holding out for the Cat House treats.  Skid got on line while Sandy and I had some cereal with peanut butter in it.

Last night Skid parked too close to these trees, and put some scratches in his trailer.  He was just sick.  UNTIL!!!  He got a note from Mr. 4E with some ideas to make it all better

We had a lot of traffic leaving the North West LA area.  I didn't take many pictures, but they Sandy has some good ones for Skid's blog.

A sign on the Grimes Canyon Road said  "NO SEMIS".  It was a good motorcycle road, but don't know what these large trucks were doing up there.

Fruit farms and oil wells

California Black Gold pumpers.  Lots of them in this area

Near James and Cat's subdivision, this is the nearest parking we could find.

Their pretty Blue home was spared from destruction earlier this year.  A fire came down the hill and was stopped by their back fence.

Nice fruit bowl.  Cat really went all out to provide us with a wonderful breakfast.

This Ostrich egg fed 10 people, and there was a lot left over!  Tasted like Chicken!

Cat.  Cook and Hostess in her home here in Fillmore, California

Jim poked a hole in the bottom of the shell, and they emptied it.  This is a LARGE bowl!

Cat and Sandy.  Today, the 17th, is Sandy's birthday. Cat's is the 19th.  So this is a Birthday Breakfast.

James and James

Lemon tree, very pretty.............Looks like a nice crop coming on

Tangerines.  They also have plum, grapefruit, nopales, persimmon and lemon trees.

Cat's hummingbird feeder.  They like these flowers.

Fire pit.  The arrows point to the 4 compass directions.  Jim did the work on it.
He also built this nice deck

Sausage gravy, link sausage, eggs, fruit, homemade bisquits, and fresh made jam...strawberry, peach, and cherry.

This was worth waiting for!

These two put on a very nice "pre-rally" feed!

Nice touch.  Canadian and US Flag.

Our home for the next 4 days

Inside Skids well set up trailer.  The A/C works good in the truck too :-)

Solvang is a real tourist town.   With
a lot on very interesting shops and places to eat

Transportation you can rent

Ray and Sue just came in from San Diego

A very unusual picture!  You don't often see Lanny with his hair messed up.  He just rode in from approximately 4000 miles since he left home.  Phoenix to Deadwood, SD, and the LONG way down here to Solvang, CA

So far we have 13 people, there will be more tomorrow

This and the next 2 pictures  are from Don (Penmakers's) camera
Mount Rushmore

A real Cowboy Kawasaki!  Seen at at gas station in Rock Springs, WY.  Don and Cranky talked to the owner, interesting person.

Cranky like to get as many miles as he can out of a tire.  This one let him down on the road. Thanks to ROK towing insurance, they picked him up within 2 hours.  Cranky has been taking bike cleaning lessons from Skid, he's doing real well.

Penmaker took this in Yosemite on the way down from Deadwood.
Talk about a tan line!  Ray usually wears tennis shoes and socks.  That white stuff is bare skin!

Gathering of the clan

Up scale eateries are everywhere.  As well as Danish bakeries.  This place is directly across from out motel

Next door to that last one

Jim Siegelaar trunked out his beautiful Vaquero

Walking across the street for dinner

Eating at the Viking House

Took a few minutes to set up a table or 13

They had WiFi so I was able to work on the blog

Not real inexpensive, but I think everyone enjoyed the food.  This is a very up-scale little city

Patiently waiting

3 Birthdays today and one on Friday!  Hmmm, lets see what we can do about this.......

My Shrimp Civichi.  The chips were home made fresh...but I didn't eat them.  Still feeling guilty about having biscuits this morning.

Lanny had a nice ribeye.  He doesn't like squash, so I ate it.  Excellent!

Don had a salad topped with semi-raw tuna.  He's tougher than I am.

Birthday Creme' Brule.  Penmaker and Sandy...

And Cat and Linda (Mrs. Nitelite)

A treat for the Birthday Boy and Girls!
