Deadwood to Kingman

Truck and Trailer loaded.  This is across the street from the Gold Country Motel in Deadwood July12, 20113

Downtown Newcastle, WY.  6: 50 AM

We're in Jackolope Country

The local True Value leaves some of their stock outside on the sidewalk all night.  Honest people in Newcastle

1930 stained glass and copper front. The store owner is havingit all restored back to what it looked like then.  Very nice old building

Sandy takes a lot of good pictures.  If you'd like to see the results, here's Skid's GREAT blog.  http://skid1850.blogspot.com

Entering Casper, WY.  A city of over 56,000 people

Drive up windo at the Bar and Liquor Store!  What will they think of next!

Sweetwater River.  The imigrants crossing the Oregon Trail was happy to have some good water for them and their animals

Independance Rock, looking at it from the East

Rest Stop.  Skid's nice Avalanche and Trailer look pretty big until you park them in with the "Big Rigs"

We passed a lot of pretty rock formations today

In Utah now.  A Flying J was an authouized Highway Rest Area.  It also had a Petting Zoo in the parking lot

This Ostrich seemed pretty friendly, but I didn't trust him :-)

Some Arizona Burros in fancy pajamas

Skid and Sandy feeding him some hay

A natural amphitheater

Thunder clouds are starting to build. The temperature is going up too

Despite the Desert, there is quite a bit of wild game out here

Inside the Lake Mead Rec area

Lake Mead is a little low this year, not much rain for a couple of seasons

We're on the new Bridge over Hoover Dam

Highway 93 between Las Vegas and Kingman, AZ

We got home around 5 PM.  I had a package from Kudzu.  Tightly wrapped with many layers of newspaper.

A Kokopelli treasure box!  THANKS, Dan!  LOVE it!  Will go with my other little treasuers.  This was a real special treat to come home to.  Pat, Skid and Sandy waited patiently with bated breath as I got it all unwrapped :-)

Last night about 10 PM Skid went outside.  This little guy was in our drive way.  In the 7 or 8 years we've been coming and now living in Kingman, it's the first time we've seen a Trantuala.  It was about the size of your hand. They aren't dangerous, so we took some pictures and shooed him on down the street :-)
