Mena. Sunday the 15th

Vista point on the  Talimena Drive

The bed was hard, but it just fit Sandy

Sandy's breakfast at the buffet

Getting fueled up for a good day of riding

A new Wing rider dropped his bike and the highway peg rotated some.  Master Mechanic Skid is giving the guy from Oklahoma a hand getting it back in place

From the Vista Point

Our rides

Never heard of this brand before.  It's for peace pipes only

Talahina quick stop.  Skid is visiting with other bikers.  We are heading back on a different highway from here

I enjoyed this place so much yesterday, wanted my Canadian friends to see it.  I remember listening to them on the radio in the 40's and 50's.

Skid thinks these are "stretch beagles"

This could be a young Barbara Foree in her class room

This lady had a basket full of wooden eggs.  Weird chickens here in Arkansas

Setting for most of their shows.  From the barber chair

Their home town was Mena.  Pine Ridge is 20 miles East. They entertained the school kids with their humor, and later the whole town.  Then the Nation.  They wrote all their own stuff, but most if it was just "off the cuff". They never had scripts until they had radio sponsors that required them.  Still then, they ad libbed more then they used the script.

This lady and her husband, who's now recovering from back surgery, has owned the store for over 35 years now. She gave us a nice history lesson of the place and the neighborhood

Looks like the Basset hound doesn't eat much

The original set of Post Offices boxes.  This store has been in continuous use as the Pine Ridge Post Office since 1886.  Still in use today.

Wow!  riding through the Arkansas country side, we stumbled on this 727.  No landing strip for miles around long enough for this baby to land on.  It was hauled in here several months ago, and the wings were put back on.  We heard it was going to be a museum or something, but no one we talked seemed to really know. Strange...................

Sunday evening. We got the bikes all loaded up and are ready to head North in the morning.

Skid going for a walk.  He's working on a sun tan before we get to Eureka Springs.
