Eureka Springs!

One of the many tourist stops alone I-40

Sunrise in New Mexico

Just crossed into Arkansas at Silome Springs on Hwy 412.  First truck I saw is this Arkansas Chicken Hauler.

Motel 62 in Eureka Springs.  53 degrees and light rain.  I still had on my Arizona shorts and sandals.  Lanny rode up the Pig Trail this morning and I drove over from Tulsa.  We were 8 minutes apart on our arrival.  We'll be here for 8 days.
One of our first places to visit was the Historical Crescent Motel

Even though it's haunted, it's a very interesting place

A hotel, Women's Conservatory, Mental hospital, among other thing's it's been.  There are suppose to be ghosts living here

The Crystal Dining room. There are other places to eat here too.  We had a VROC banquet here, I think 2005.  All the Ghosts were friendly.

This large Player Pipe Organ came from Germany

This Player Piano was playing in the lobby today

24 times zoom.  Christ of the Ozarks.  This is a few miles away.  7 stories high

One of the roads going up to the hotel

The grounds are interesting.  Hosts many wedding a year.  The color is changed with the seasons

Too cold for much pool pleasure today

People were shorter when the Hotel was built.  All the door knobs are low.  Or, maybe the people just had longer arms

Yum

Double Yum

Basin Springs.  There are 62 known Springs here.  A dozen or more have been renovated and are still in use throughout the city

Lanny tasting some "healing waters"

The Public library is still in use.  Years ago this was the only place in town where you could get public  WiFi. Now it's everywhere

Let it rain!  The bike and trailer are back at the motel.

This is a real piece of the wall. It was donated by a group in Germany to the Passion Play here in Eureka Springs.  Lanny is holding it up

Local Hooligan.  I first wore that black hat to ES back in 2002 when it was new, as well as the new Kokopelli bike I rode out that year.  Things change, but the hat is the same

If you look at the base of the statue, above the hedge is Lanny's head.  Give a little prospective of the size.  The information says this is the most photographed statue in the World. But, I wouldn't bet on it. It's at the site of where they have the Passion Play, so there are lots of visitors here every day

The Play is in a little hollow in the hills. From a distance, these are a few of the seats for viewing the play, which is always at night.  They use live animals, and is as authentic to the time as possible

Magnetic Springs.  The waters are suppose to heal. And, if you drop in a piece of metal, it's suppose to come out a magnet.  I didn't try it.
