13 September 12

Dan and Mary Dowdy own this Custom Car shop. The Texaco pump and sign came from her Grandfather's new service station he opened in 1921 in Colorado.  She brought a lot of his original things to Arizona 15 years ago.

Camero and a Chopped and channeled Studebaker in progress

Very pretty Chevy.

37 Hudson Terraplane Pickup.  Dan and Mary built this for themselves.  The Arias engine pumps out over 1900 hp!  Gets 4 mpg in town diving, 8 or 9 on the highway.  Usually hauled to shows, then driven there. They have put about a 1000 miles on it.  Will only run on racing fuel, so it's pretty expensive to drive.

Lots of custom hand built metal work, but everything works.  Electric doors and windows and hydraulic suspension

Combination work shop, garage, antique center and gift shop in this room

Coke machine and cash register was in "Grandpa's" Station in Colorado

This is what the Hudson looked like when they brought it home

Nice ghost flames.  It's more red and the orange color in this picture.  Probably the lighting effected the camera

Extra fine upholstery

Another project.  Dan and Mary do it all them selves.  Lots of customers from Southern California and Phoenix.

45 ford has a Cadillac engine, it's getting new running gear

This 56 Chev is scheduled to come in to the shop soon

Entrance to the business. There is an old tow truck that was bought new by Grandpa.  Still in good running condition. They have turned down some unbelievable offer on it.

Pat and I made a new friend today.  We really enjoyed talking to Mary.  She took this picture.  Actually, we were on a Harley test check out ride when we decided to stop here in Dolan Springs.

Big engine for a small bike.  It was just tuned by one of the best.  Now pumping out 90.52 pounds of torque, and got over 50 mpg on this 91 mile trip.

Before going home we stopped in Locomotive Park where Octoberfest was going on.

Several bands scheduled to perform during the afternoon and evening.

Waited around to hear this band, but the crowd was so noisy you could hardly hear the music.  We did have a brat with sauerkraut.

The end.  Well, not quite

Design on Pat's Joe Rocket jacket.  We ordered gloves to match, should be in soon

Nice hat.  This guy had an early start enjoying some German Beer :-)
A good day.
