Martinez Lake Ride

These doves were right in front of Jim and Katie's house this morning.  They are in mourning because they aren't here yet

Martinez Lake is back water from the Colorado River. Lots of fishing, and all water sports.  Some beautiful homes up here.  We're about 40 miles North of Yuma

Lots of Coots, and some nice domestic ducks too

Fisher's Landing.  A general store and a Bar & Grill

Lots of dry camping space.  Some free, some not.  There is also a regular RV park with hook ups here

The area is made up of little  inlets of water into the desert. On each little spit there are homes and businesses

Rode up here with Scotty from our park in Yuma. He's been here before so was showing me around.

During the busy seasons, this boat sells food on the water

Scotty.  We started out in jackets like this, but by around 11 AM we shed it all down to t-shirts

Was told this is a very good place to eat, but they don't open until sometime in the afternoon

Y-FI?  Cool :-)

Many beautiful homes up here.  Nice house, garage, and boat house

The Military recreation facility.  These boats can be rented by the day.  The larger party boat on the end give 3.5 hour tours up the Colorado.  Visits some Petroglyph sites, some old mines, and lots of wild life.  It's expensive though.....$6 per person.

Edgar the Egret

You can rent a nice furnished park model trailer for $40 a night

The campground is very clean and well kept.

The park has 3 of these houses.  2 bdrom, 2 bath, bunk beds for 8.  Rents for $50 a night.

There is 3 of these isolated RV spots.  Water and electric provided.  Fire pit and covered patio

Another RV stop.  I was riding in the  Assistant Mgr;s little quad.  He was showing me around, since I plan to come back with the RV sometime soon.

Another treat up there we didn't even know was there

Big Kitty

Home of Digger, a desert Tortise.

View from the window in the Wildlife Reserve welcome center.  The Colorado River goes through those bushes

Roadrunner and Quail

Osprey with lunch

Castle Dome.  Back in the mining period, there were 7 mines between these domes. Another story..about how the ore was brought out, taken down the river to the Gulf of Mexico, then throught the Sea of Cortez and around and up to San Fransisco to be processed

One of 2 Observation Aerostats in the area

Interesting place to visit

Boat ramp at Fisher's Landing

North entrance to the Yuma US Army Proving Ground.  I didn't even know this entrance is there. About 8 or 10 miles West of Hwy 95.
