Sunset Bay.  Angie heading for open water.  Jon waits for a wave, but it was too calm for surfing.  Angie does real well on the board.  She can't swim, so it's a fine incentive not to fall off.

Nathan, our 6' 2", 15 year old Grandson.  He'll take his turn on the board later

Jonee won't give up.  He was really hoping for some good waves on the South Coast, but it's been too calm the last few days.

The General Store and Chuck's Seafood.  Red's Tavern used to be next door.  Gone now.  Was a real "bucket of blood" when the Loggers and Fishermen came to town on the weekends.

There's a good deli in here

At one time, I was responsible for the maintenance and repair of the boats on this station.  Also the training of the Engineering department.  Later, after I retired, I worked for a construction company and was the Contract Administrator for the renovation of these buildings.

You can buy fresh seafood right off the dock here.

Commercial fishing used to be one of the main industries in Coos Bay. Not so much any more.  The limits and restrictions, and other government regulations have just about put them all out of business.

There is still some Sport Fishing, but not like there used to be.

New owners here.

There are more than one processing plants here in Charleston

Some VROC'ers will remember this place.  Kaw Pasture for a WWR rally.  And the Honeymoon suite for Dave and Romy!

Fisherman hang out

Large pile of Oyster shells.  I forgot to take my camera so used the phone this morning.  That's why the pictures aren't too good

Fisherman's Grotto.  Good Sea Food

Or, you can get a "gut-buster" here

Interesting store.

Midway between Coos Bay and Charleston.  A nice clean RV park. (this picture for Mary)
