My friend Charlie needed a snack and a peek at the new bike. |
Charlie lived down in Gadsden. This used to be Mexico, until Gadsden purchased it. Charlie came with the land. |
Just found out about this old bridge yesterday. So, we took a ride out and found it. I'll post a link. It's not what you might think. The figures are from petrogpyphs, and were good. The Arizona Highway Dept. Used them for their logo before WW2. http://www.yumasun.com/articles/bridge-84956-laguna-rasp.html |
It's blocked off by cables and large rocks, but I was able to get around them and ride across. Katie was there with her "ever-ready" camera. |
The bridge isn't as large as we expected. And it was pretty easy to find, once we knew the approx. location. |
Water diverted from the Colorado River |
Wrong Turn made a Wrong Turn in West Virginia, and ended up here in Arizona. |
Steep. Loose rocks. Long way down to the water. But, Katie has to get closer for just the right picture :-) |
This is a far as I got. Not following them to a sure disaster! |
It was a beautiful day! |
Good Swimming hole |
This little green plant was about a half inch across. Held the camera about an inch 2 inches away from it. |
Dueling cameras |
Delicate little flowers |
Bears coming out of the woods |
I'll have to do a little research on why the water is separated like this |
Palo Verde trees |
Shake down ride for the little XT, and a dirt road experiment with Jim's "Dub-ya" |
Sun Gardens Date Farm |
Just arriving from a ride across Mitry Lake |
If we's had more time, Katie would have taken her shoes of and walked around on the fresh cut lawn |
The 650 did fine on the ride today |
After we got home, I went to a car wash to spray off the dirt and dust. Then visited Redd. He couldn't stand to see some spots from chain oil, so was busy cleaning them off. Thanks Redd. |
Harvest is in full swing. This field will be prepared, and in a couple of weeks or so, a different crop will be growing. They used the fields for 3 or 4 crops a year. |
