Hackberry. Route 66 Fun Run this weekend, the highway is FULL of old cars. That looks like a "Dale & Ev" Ford! It even has a tire hanging on the back. I can't spell Continental Kit :-) Maybe I did. |
I used to have a "goat" just like this. Even the same color! The new bike gets it's first of many visits to the Hackberry Store. Please remember, you can click on any of the picture to enlarge them |
School sign near Peach Springs |
Entering Seligman |
Low Rider pick 'em up truck |
Every place to park has old cars. Probably all of these, plus MANY more will be in Kingman tomorrow. |
That trailer has a For Sale sign on it. Looks like it's in excellent condition |
Took most of these "on the fly" from the bike |
Probably 90% of the store in Seligman are aimed at the tourist trade |
According to the owner at the Hackberry store, the tourists the are on buses are a large percentage Asian & German |
Very cool place! |
It goes on and on. Couple more blocks and I'll turn around |
These cars were all driven here. Tomorrow they will drive to Kingman, and Sunday over Sitgreaves pass to Oatman, ending in Topock, near the California border. |
Wow! |
Slammer, if you look at this, you may recognize the Mesh Jacket I'm wearing today. |
The motels are doing a good business this weekend! |
There were many fine looking trucks |
"T" Bucket with a BIG engine. |
Elvis hangs out over there. Nice Edsel too. |
Showing it's inards |
Fine '59. I'm not a big fan of fender skirts, but they look OK on this old sled. |
That Tear Drop trailer is for sale too |
Back to the West side of town. |
The Romney Motel. This is how our new President made all his money! |
Don't give up, almost finished |
Same parking lot as the Road Kill Cafe |
Gas was 40 cents a gallon more here than it is in Kingman today. Filled up this morning for $3.71. $4.11 here. |
Ate lunch here 3 or 4 years ago, right after visiting the trail that goes down the Grand Canyon to the Supai Village |
Gas, Motel, Restaurant, and tours of the Caverns |
An old Honky Tonk between Hackberry and Valentine. I imagine this was a real "Hot Spot" back in the day. |
When the mines and farms were more active, this place probably got a lot of business |
Almost home, had to stop one more time at Hackberry for the normal Gas Pump picture |
The Outpost just opened for the season not long ago. The parking lot was full of cars and bikes when I went by earlier. Guess this is the slow time of day. It was a good ride! |
