More weekend pics

Saturday afternoon, a short ride to Algodones, Mexico

A shopping Plaza next to the town square.

This was just built last year, a pretty large complex inside.  Tury's are sort of rivaling the Purple Pharmacy, but they have a ways to go.

Most Snowbirds and other tourists one see a small part of Algodones.  There is a lot more to the City than you see in the walking area of down town.  The little Dual Sport bike opened up a whole new world :-)

A new paint job on The Paris.

A VN800 Vulcan!  Parked by my favorite Barber Shop.  Haircuts are $3 in here.  You get the whole works, just like US barbershops used to be back in the good old days. :-)

Watching my food intake a little, so didn't stop.  Jose saw me going by, and waved a chicken.....  I love eating in there.

Pinata's of all size and shapes.

Another colorful professional and shopping square.

Street food.  It's all good..and plenty.

Mi Amigo, the parking lot man.  When we take the car over, I always park here.  Covered area cost 2 bucks for all day.  This gentleman has one arm, and no English, but we get along well.  A smile and a little tip goes a long way.

Strawberries are in full swing.  Dollar a basket.  I've tried bring them home on the little bike before, and even though it's only 6 miles, they get pretty beat up.  So, I have to stop and eat them.  The Burgman scooter is smooth enough, but I prefer to ride the XT when coming here.

The tall man is the owner of this very nice Natural Food store.  The ladies work next door in an optical shop.  When the people down here get used to seeing you, you're treated a whole lot different than the average tourist.  You really would have a hard time finding a friendlier bunch of people.  Mexico has their share of "bad guys", but no worse than anywhere else.

Best place in town for Shirmp & Fish tacos, and large Tamales.

Asparagus and Strawberries!  Didn't see the "Mexican Viagra" lady today, but I know she's out there somewhere with her Asparagus cart.

The border crossing enters California, so I always have to wear a helmet to get to Mexico.  Don't need one in Arizona or Mexico.

The "Q".  Quechan Casino.  About 3 years old now, owned by the local Indian tribe.  There are 3 large Casinos in the Yuma area.  This is on I-8, on the Exit to Andrade, the Border Crossing.

These little hills are between old US 80, and I-8. I did a little off-roading to check the view.

Another few days, and this Ocotillo Blossom will be bright  red.

Tried going up that hill, but its' real loose sand.  After almost  crashing or getting stuck, I gave up and came back to where the surface was a little harder.

Having spent my whole life in green woods or on the Ocean Shores, it sort of weird that I love the desert!   But, I do.

Flat Stanley.  He'll be my riding buddy for a few days.
