Mardi Gras 2014

Katie is getting into the Olympics!

A ride for some Mexican food

Been here since 1943.  Hasn't changed much

Susan wins today for the best looking plate

Romy and Susan.  Jim and Katie have worked all day (and several days preparation this week) to turn out a most wonderful dinner and Mardi Gras party.  Music, food, Hurricanes, and good companionship was the order of the evening.

Jim is the bartender.  Pat O'Brien is a novice compared to JIm!

Gumbo with all the good trimmings.  They even had candied Jalapenos!

A "diet" hurricane!

Peek-a-boo!  Just to remind everyone that this was a VROC event :-)

Our most gracious host.  And he didn't make any Wrong Turns while preparing this super party

Pat bought this shirt several years ago when we were in New Orleans.  She finally had a good opportunity to wear it.

Nice to see Pat a little out of character :-)  She's usually not into dressing the part, but she really enjoyed the evening. I think we all did!

Romy has had to be on line most of the time this week, was required to do WORK.  What ever that is.....so, not a lot of riding this trip, but she'll make up for it next visit.

Table decorations, and things for us to wear.  Jim and Katie put a LOT of thought, time and expense to make this a good evening....

We're all hoping Joe and Susan come back next Winter!

Romy somehow found time to make and decorate this most wonderful cake!  She even decorated the cover.

The ladies in their formal attire

Katie giving Dave instruction on how to wear a mask

I won't even try to describe how delicious the food was!

It was a nice warm evening.  Of course, it always is :-)

Some serious eating going on

and I got these beads on Bourbon street!

The "puffers" taking a break

Our neighbor Jerry was also having a "get-together" with friends from the park.  So, it was "party central" on our street.

Just like parking "in the Quarter"

The whole car port was made to look like the French Quarter

Ah So....Jim finds a good use for the cake pan cover

Earning more beads

Brother Coyote howling at the moon
This mask makes David look a little like a werewolf!

We signed the wall.  Maybe we can add some more signatures next year

Nice tie, Joe

Dancing..to the music

And more dancing......

Joe pouring the last of the Hurricanes for Susan.  Jim and Katie made a gallon!

Nice mask. And a good beard!

Oh...that's Katie

The Wild One.

Jerry stopped in for a little visit

Jim 'n Joe

Turn out the lights....the party's over.  For us anyway.  Pat and I headed home to work on this blog and get ready for a trip tomorrow.  The younger ones are still over there next door in the French Quarter. Thanks Mr. and Mrs. Ayers for a most enjoyable evening!
