36 Anniversary Dinner

May 6, 2011. For our 36th Anniversary we went with friends to have dinner here at the Culinary Institute.

Sherm & Pat Acord. 36 years of Wedded Bliss.

The Appetizer: Coconut Shrimp served with Pineapple mustard, spiced oil and cilantro.

Our company was Karen & Preston. It was a very large table, but we didn't have to reach for much except the bread and wine.

I thought a bottle of Thunderbird would be fine, but since this is a pretty nice place, the others decided we should go with the "good stuff"

The Soup: Creamed Turnip and Rutabaga, served with Caramelized apples, and herbs from the garden they grow behind the institute.

The Entree: Sous Vide Beef Shortribs accompanied with Confit Potatoes, Creamy Mushroom Ragu, and Beer Battered Shallots.

The Dessert: There was no description, it was a "chef's surprise" But, there was a cherry inside the little truffle on the right, with an edible stem. Then some cherry sorbet with a piece of dried cherry. The little sailing barge on the left has several things inside the thing that looks like a twinkie, with some lemon shebert on top, and a sail made from something sweet. It was all wonderful! They served several different breads too, and finished off with good rich coffee. The portions look small, but they were very good, and we all had plenty to eat.

This last picture is for some of the old time VROC friends. They will understand. Brought back some fun memories!
