Nino's used to be one of my favorite places to eat. When I worked in Oklahoma City, I ate lunch here many times. But, the prices have gone way up, the portions are smaller, and not nearly as good as they used to be. It was fun having lunch here today anyway.

One of the old towns along Route 66 in Oklahoma.

Lots of good memories along this section of "The Mother Road", from my BMW days.

I think this was in down town Chandler, OK, on Route 66.

This was an old car repair shop, among other things along the old highway.

A famous old barn on route 66 just East of Oklahoma city on route 66

Don Exum's pond on Catoosa, OK. He has a beautiful place here.

A tree in Don's back yard, near the garden plot.

We ate at a Catfish Buffet just East of Tulsa, OK. Don and I Don (Bassman) really enjoyed it. I wasn't real hungry after my Mexican lunch, so, as you see here, I went pretty light tonight. They had a lot of good items on the food line I passed up. We're close enough to Arkansas that they had hot chocolate gravy/pudding on the line. It was very good on top of some chocolate cake We've noticed in the past that lots of breakfast buffets out here have the hot thick chocolate on the food bars.

Bassman is all ready for Haloween! This guy dances and sings, blinks and chomps his jaws.

Don is restoring a 1965 Pontiac GTO.

This wrecked 18 wheeler was along I-40 in Eastern New Mexico. There were a lot of emergency vehicles and machinery that had been unloading the trailer from the top. I don't know what happened, but it looked like some other vehicles had been taken away due to the way the median looked. This was the only picture I took today.

Sunrise in the Foree back yard. I've seen a few VROC'er utilizing that hammock in the corner before

Some road rocks near the New Mexico line

The Contineantal Divide.

I have this same picture with several different bikes! It's still fun to stop.

Nice rock near Chief Yellowstone's tourist trap.

Barb is checking out her laptop, while Chunk, Kelly and Don Mardle look on.

Barb is enjoy a nice salad and "meatless Mexican Chorizo"
Jack and Kelly Sprankle enjoying their T-Bones

Don Mardle came all the way from New Zealand just to sit nest to Barb and enjoy a huge "Jack Cooked" T-Bone steak.

Kelly Sprankle and Don Mardle just rolled into Jack's Body Shop. Don bought Kelly's Nomad and brought it to Arizona to have it registered.

Chunk is going to brave the rain from Ike tomorrow and haul the Ron/Cheryl trailer back to Eureka Springs for me. I'm going to lay over in Holbrook for another day to try and miss some of the rain. We spend about an hour doing a super-duper tie down job onto his flat bed. Jack's ramp, tools and lumber (and know how) make it sort of a fun project.

Chunk said I had to get in the picture too...we put on more tie downs after these pictures were taken, it's VERY solid on the trailer.

Chunk and Jack are pointing out some good roads to Don.

Chunk's plate. Jack prepared a very fine meal. thick T-bones with all the trimmings

One of the Route 66 tourist traps in Seligman, AZ. Interesting place.

Elvis and friends on an old Edsel.

Couple of the waitresses out for some air. (recharging their heads)

Carl and Ed getting ready to enjoy breakfast in the Copper Cart. Took a long time to get it, but was good when it came.

Bar across the street from out cafe. It's been there a long time.

Carl's famous beans! I ate too much, but it was worth it. He's a good cook. And they had out the best paper dinner ware that you can buy in Walmart.
Ed and Carl in their Kingman kitchen.

Early morning sunrise at the Ed and Carl abode. They each have a Vulcan and a Harley, so they have 4 little barns in the back yard, one for each bike. The large garage is for cars and Carls small machine shop.

When we arrived in Seligman, the town was full of a large group of motorcycles on a tour or Route 66. Every eating place was full. This is one of Ed and Carl's favorites, the Copper Kitchen.

Our breakfast place. The Road Kill Cafe is probably one of the most popular in town, but there are lots of other good ones. It was a perfect ride from Kingman out here this morning

Wednesday morning, 7 AM. A beautiful day starting in Stockton, CA. In front of Don (VSP)'s house.
Don's smoking room and bike stable. He usually has 6 or 7 bikes, overflow goes into his neighbors empty garage.

Getting ready to head out. Don is going to ride for an hour or so down I-5 with me, then he's heading home to take his mother to lunch. What a good son!

From the looks of this dry hill, you'd never know how green and fertile this valley is. You usually don't think of apples in California, but I've passed a couple dozen of these trucks loaded full of apples. So, there must me dozens more. This same kind of trailer rigs haul almonds, tomatos, and.............well, it's almost endless, the crops that grow here.
The McDonalds parking lot in Santa Nella. There are lots of nice looking places to eat, but Don just lives for his "Senior coffee" at McDonalds Actually, I tried one of their new McGriddle breakfast burrito's. It was very good! I think I'll do it again in the morning. The McDonalds here in Barstow is inside an old railroad depoe. You can even sit in a real passenger car to eat if you want. Very cool place.

I didn't post this last night, but that store we visited has it's own shuttle bus to pick up customers. Pretty good idea.

September 8, 2008. 12 noon. Getting ready to roll enroute Eureka Springs, Arkansas for the VROC Reunion, and to deliver this trailer to Ron and Cheryl who live in Georgia and will meet me there.

Mostly out of order, but I'll start here. It's 7 PM here in Stockton, CA, at Don VSP's house. September 9th. It was an excellent ride today, sunny and cool over the Siskiyou Mountains, then warmed up nicely in the Sacramento then the San Joaquin River Valleys. After getting settled into the Inamasu household, we headed into an old diner in Lodi. Established in 1938, so it's 2 years older than me! The food was wonderful. We both had the special of the day...cabbage rolls stuff with meat and rice, potatoes, carrots, soup and salad, dinner rolls and spumoni ice cream. I was so excited about it all I forgot to take a picture of the food. After dinner, Don took us to a California style Mexican Super Market. A lot of these picture are of the displays, it was a wonderful place! So, we'll start here with some tomatoes. I've been passing open trucks all day full of fruit and nuts on the way to market. Hmmm, must be in California.

A large bin of Limes. Waiting to be squeezed into Margarita juice!

These Strawberries were HUGE, the picture doesn't do them justice
Cheeses, sour cream, thick sweet cream, and bulk yogurt. The Mango Yogurt looked the best to me.
The meat market in the store had just about every kind and cut of meat you could imagine, and all very nicely displayed.
Different cuts of tripe. Probably most of this will be used in Menudo!
More cuts of fresh meat.
Goat meat and pork. Lots of the meats they offer have already been seasoned
and marianated.

These were Mexican Pelicans I think. They had lots of yard decorations lining the walls.

The Deli was "to die for". I told Don that the next time I'm in town, I want to come here to eat. they had many tasty looking selections, and tables to enjoy them in the store.
Fresh green onions.
Yellow chilis
A watering trough full of Pinto beans
Lots of Hominy is needed to make Menudo and Posoli. You can get it here. Don't look so happy Don!
Some of the bakery goods in the Rancho San Miguel Supermarket.
Pinatas hang over the produce in the market. The produce is all fresh and beautifully displayed.
Mexican bakeries do well with thier cakes, this place was no exception. I think the lady here in the picture is trying to smuggle a watermelon from the store.
Jalepinos and Tomisillos in the produce department
These are grapes in Don (VSP)'s back yard.
Maybe when I return from ES, these Lemons will be ripe and I'll bring a few home! They are also in Don's back yard.
This is the old diner where we had dinner. It's righ on old Highway 99. It has a very colorful history.
It was almost empty when we arrived, but by the time we left it was full. Mostly old people. We fit right in

Inside the Richmaid Diner. These people have been coming here since 1938.

Kilo had a Burgman ride from the Coast to the Mountains today. It's beautiful here in the High Cascades.

A tall tree on the trail to Sahalie Falls http://www.planeteugene.com/sahalie.htm

One of the trails near the Falls. You can walk to the top or the river below.

This is the spot the last of the Kilo's Ashes will stay. A nice view of the Falls. These are the head waters of the McKenzie River. The elevation here is over 3000 feet. In the Chinook Native Jargon, Sahalie means "Heaven", or Sky. A fitting place to leave his ashes. These were spread on August 22, 2008.

Sun was coming through the heavy Coastal Forest along the trail to the Ocean Cliff. This will be the "Send-off" for some of Kilo's ashes. August 9th, 2008.

As we get closer to the Sea, the underbrush is getting lighter.

This is the spot. The ashes went over the cliff right here. Some settled on the side of the cliff, some blew out to sea. It's about 100 feet almost straight down from the top here to the beach.

Looking to the North, right around this little point of land (Called Crown Point), is the entrance to Coos Bay.

Looking to the South, you see Cape Arago Light House. RIP, Mark Irwin.
Good friend and riding partner. VROC . Kilo #935. He left us on July 22, 2008

Camping trip at Dorene Lake. Today is Karen's Birthday! She did a masterful job of blowing out the "forest fire" on her cake.

Karen, Preston, Pat, and my hand. this is the group vroc toast to Kilo and Chuck Burt. 7 PM Pacific time, July 25, 2008, we joined hundreds of other vroc folks toasting the memory of these two men.

Preston's Voyager with Karen's little 500cc Vulcan's cover

Sherm had the "Daisy Duty" for awhile. She belongs to Bob and Ronda.

The Hot Dog, and smoores fire.

It was a good Birthday celebration evening. Perfect weather, and good friends.
