85 degrees in Yuma today.  Katie is on the way to the dumpter, Jim must have been "talking trash" again :-)  Nice summer dress and shoes!

I'd like to live here.

Nice to be back in T-shirt riding again.  This was the coolest winter we've had in Yuma, but it was still pretty nice.
Tony Stewart. 3/1/13.  Before the main event at Cocopah Raceway.  Sprint car Winter Nationals. I took this with Jim (wrongturn's) camera, borrowed it for the 42x zoom.

30 some cars in the field.  From all over the US.  Just before the main event, they lined up in perfect formation, 3 abreast and made a couple of laps. Very impressive.

Tony going into turn 4.  He only made ONE hot lap prior to the race program.  Guess that's all he needed :-)

Fedex tracking says I should get a package today.  Got the XT out and ready. The person that stole it removed a lot o parts, and many nuts and bolts.  Don't really know why, but the Sheriff's dept said I'd probably never get anything back.  So, had to order them from Yamaha.

Will be a puzzle getting it all back together, but I'm looking forward to it!  It's after noon now, and the truck hasn't showed up.
Going to the races at 5 PM. Gotta watch Tony take a checkered flag tonight :-)
March 3rd.  Pat didn't want to go through another night of "dust" at the track, so she gave her ticket to Redd.  We arrived early, there was a sell out crowd, so we go there early.

The couple there in front is Joyce and Carl.  I went to high school with Joyce in Grants Pass, OR.  We both graduated in 1959.  They are serious race fans.

"The Diamond in the Desert" is the name of the Cocopah Raceway.  Pretty cool that they have been hosting National Races, with some of the best drivers.

26 cars line up for the Feature race.  Tony Stewart started 5th.  These cars are ALL very fast.  The best in the Nation!  Tony ended up finishing 3rd again tonight.

Number 14 is the one in the center here.  Chevy Performance engine in Tony Stewart's car. The dirt surface is clay that is all trucked in. The desert sand wouldn't to very good surface for a race track like this :-)
