Day 2 Solvang

Left over from the 4th of July

Motel provides us breakfast at Olsen's Bakery across the street

Don (VSP)  has slicked up his goodies real well

A fine Bakery

You have a roll of your choice to lather up with butter and jam, then a pastry of  your choice, topped off with very good coffee. (or milk)

For the Darksiders

And cookies and candy

Fudge, etc.

A bucket of cookies to go

Flying Willy, James and Cat

A British Morgan replica, with an S&S engine

Very cool1

Our motel

We need one of these at all VROC rallies

Ryan (Boomer) says this place is making him swell up

Wisteria Arbor at the motel

The Boomer and Shannon

A lot of CARBS, but very tasty

After the Laverner farm, it was nap time

The lack of water in California has changed this whole area.  Never have seen it so brown and dry

Under the Spreading Live Oak tree...no more green grass, they aren't allowed to water it

Very relaxing temperature today. High 80's with a nice light breeze

We stopped along the road and found some ostrichs

Very rare bike, from New Zealand  Only a couple left in existance. All hand made

Most expensive bike on the floor.  500cc Isle of Mann bike that was owned by Mike Hailwood.  Worth over a million bucks

Virgil Elings owns all the bikes. A scientist, inventor and professor. We had the pleasure of meeting him again today.  He has too many credentials to even mention.

Took over a hundred pictures today, it was really tough to only post a few

The old H2.  Some of us owned one of  these in the 70's

A Norton with a Rotary engine.  One of the last ever made

He doesn't favor any brand

A rotary engine on the wheel. Everything on the floor runs and is ridable. He has about this many more in his shop that he rotates out of, and is constantly restoring his new purchases

The Flying MerKel

Very nice Harley

Yvette's new bike

This Crocker and I are the same age.  I think the bike is in a little better condition than my old body

Always a favorite.  The Crocker is cool!

For 1905, this bike has a lot of up to date renovations

Nice

One of  Virgil's newest. Very few of these bikes still around.  He was out bid at an auction...then went to the high bidder and made it worth his while to sell it :-)  Very cool bike

There is a lever on the left side to raise and lower the little wheels

Virgil and his long time assistant

Virgil demonstrated how everything works. He has ridden this bike, as he has most of the bikes in his collection

Cheryl, Shannon, James, and Cat.

Grand National Champion Bubba Schuberth's helmet

He signed this one for Virgil

The helmet manufacture put this signal on the helmet, not exactly like the real thing

Shannon and Ryan admiring the Crocker

One of the customers that touched a bike

You traveled a lot lighter back when this bike was popular

Coffee shop in Los Olivos, CA

Lunch on our ride

We were a little late. The guy leading the ride got lost

For only $250, you can buy this painting

A happy Shannon

Nice little town in the local Wine country

Helmet. Autographed by....no one

Ray, a Rose, and Shannon

I take a picture of this every year for Romy

The gift shop has changed some, but still have nice things

My Carbohydrate splurge of the week!  Love this stuff

Laverder crop isn't as good as some years, but it's still going to be a good year

Spreading Live Oak tree

They keep the crop wet, but lack of rain has really taken a toll on this part of California

Our transportation

Purple bag purchases.  Maggie Valley has nothing on us!

There are some new plants this year

Getting ready to roll

The gift shop
Dinner at Anderson's Pea Soup Restaurant

Linda, Howard and Phil

Boomer sneaking a peak

Portions were generous

After dinner conversation

Katie is Phil's friend

Shannon and Boomer are fun people!

The end!  On for more fun tomorrow
